Francesca Fanti
La Fantesca
Born and raised in Italy, Francesca has been acting in all media between Europe and the US where she has been living for many years. Winner of the Bay Area Critics Circle Award for best solo performance and The Artistic Director Achievement Award for best actress in comedy, she’s currently working on the film production of an adaptation she wrote.
Acting is indeed my passion, but I also like to write, direct, dance and learn new skills. For fun I like to go sailing, skiing, biking by the ocean, running, hiking and practice yoga. I love to be outdoor most of the time.
I first came to L.A. for an acting seminar and of course I fell in love with the weather and the dangerous feeling of always being on some sort of vacation…
Well, my son was born here so that is the best memory in L.A. as he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I remember taking a yoga class just a few hours before and watching a movie right before the delivery.
I live in Marina del Rey and I love it. The Venice Pier is where I come almost every day to do my yoga, to bike, to meditate and to watch the best sunsets.
I always say that, after many years in the US, we are not really Italians anymore and yet we are not Americans… Some kind of hybrid species that’s hard to define…Italiany!
I’ve presented for years the work of Dario Fo and Franca Rame in the US with the award winning one woman show: “Orgasmo Adulto Escapes from the Zoo” and the work of Dacia Maraini in the one woman show :”Letters of Love” and the play: “Dialogue between a prostitute and her Client”. It’s amazing how some problems/scenarios born in Italy in the 70s are still read today on the headlines in US…
