Since I was born I have always had football in my blood … since the age of three years I was always with the ball between my feet, and as soon as I was old enough I joined the team of my hometown. I grown a lot in those years, till finally I joined Udinese football team, where I started to be a professional football player, becoming my job! I travelled a lot around Italy thanks to various companies starting from the C league and then for about ten years in the B league (Triestina, Mantova and Sassuolo) where I was defined one of the leading “cannonieri”. Ending with the arrival in NYC in the famous and grandiose NY Cosmos team After 31 years we won the championship bringing back glory to the Team!
Luckily my job is also my favorite hobby… I love this sport and you can understand it by the fact that even in my spare time I pass by the Chinatown field and I challenge the “ItaliaNY” playing there. I follow also other sports and I attend different matches at the MSG and Yankees Stadium, in the US they give a great value to sports … Being in the Big Apple push me to discover new things everyday. NYC a fantastic and multiethnic city.
Since 2005 NYC have been our destination for the holidays… a city that my wife and I love, a city that recharge us!
You can imagine when a proposal by a US team arrived…we took the first flight!… As they say, trains pass only once in life, for us it was definitely a new and fantastic opportunity to experience new incredible adventures.
After 10 holiday trips and nearly one year spent in this city my memories are many and great … but makes the top of my list, when I asked my wife to marry me at Rockefeller Center under the Christmas tree. Beautiful place and great atmosphere… a top moment not only in my NYC experience, but most of all in my life!
When Alexo asked me to chose a location, I had no idea, the city is beautiful and full of history and emotions – I would have picked any place .. but as a sportsman and Italian a football field in the heart of Manhattan was the best fit, associating my job/passion and the fantastic golf play ground that you can find in NY.
These collection of portraits is a fantastic idea and gives you a perfect idea of how many Italians are living in NYC and how much they give they do to make this city even more incredible … and of course at the same time how this city gives us the chance to translate our dreams in reality.
Being part of this project has been an honor and privilege … Honored to be the ambassador of the Italians and the sport that back home is considered “SACRO”. Expressing our passion and our deep wishes, ItaliaNY is not just an exhibition, but something that goes beyond!
